The Ukrainian Volunteer Army (Українська добровольча армія) is a splinter militia of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps, a militia belonging to the Right Sector, the Army was formed by former Right Sector leader Dmytro Yarosh, and acts as a paramilitary wing of his State Initiative of Yarosh (DIA) party:
But we are no longer the “Right Sector” for a long time. A political decision will be made - currently there is none. In the public sector, we are represented by the “State Initiative of Yarosh”. We are currently following the military path. We are opening units of the “Ukrainian Volunteer Army” in Ukraine, in the regions, which would be such a mobilizing basis for training young people, training people so that they know how to hold weapons. We have a good base, good instructors in order to enable the army in wartime to mobilize the population quickly. We want to prepare as many people as possible for the war, which will probably continue for a very long time.
Unlike its Ukrainian Volunteer Corps counterpart, the Volunteer Army has not integrated with the Ukrainian Army or any other Ukrainian government authority, although parts of the UVA have integrated with various military organisations, for example, the Arrata Battalion later joined Ukraine’s Intelligence Directorate as part of its Timur Unit
