The Eastern Corps Public Movement (Громадський рух «Східний корпус») is an NGO formed by affiliates of the former Patriot of Ukraine movement, it aimed to support the Patriot of Ukraine backed volunteer battalions Eastern Corps Company, Black Corps and its successors Azov Battalion and the Azov Regiment (now known as Azov Brigade).
History of creation
The movement “Eastern Corps” was created at the beginning of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in February-March 2014. “Eastern Corps” appeared on the initiative of members of the public organization [“Patriot of Ukraine”](https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%93%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%BC%D0%B0%D0%B4%D1%81%D1%8C%D0%BA%D0%B0_%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B3%D0%B0%D0%BD%D1%96%D0%B7%D0%B0%D1%86%D1%96%D1%8F_%C2%AB%D0%9F%D0%B0%D1%82%D1%80%D1%96%D0%BE%D1%82_%D0%A3%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B0%D1%97%D0%BD%D0%B8%C2%BB “Public organization “Patriot of Ukraine"") and football fans .
At the beginning of its activity, the movement had only a few dozen people who participated in street confrontations with pro-Russian separatists in Kharkiv.
Activities
Members of the public organization took part in providing assistance to the Ukrainian security forces , which restrained the armed aggression of Russia in the east of Ukraine . In particular, they provided assistance to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the “Eastern Corps” company and the “Azov” NGU regiment .
The “Eastern Corps” also helped refugees from the east of Ukraine.
