Wotanjugend is a Russian Neo-Nazi group with ties to the National Corps party and the Rise Above Movement (USA)1, it is currently based in Ukraine, according to investigators from Bellingcat the group has openly hosted so-called “Fuhrernights” in Kyiv and promoted “Esoteric-Hitlerism” circles, it has also promoted the manifestos of National Corps leader Andriy Biletsky alongside other far-right manifestos, such as that of the Christchurch shooter, Brentan Tarrant.
Its members have fought as part of the Azov Battalion, its successor the Azov Brigade, and the Russian Volunteer Corps:
In the spring of 2014, with the beginning russian-ukrainian war, some members of WotanJugend came to Ukraine to fight as part of Ukrainian military formations, in particular battalion «Azov». . Later, in 2015, two leaders of the movement, Oleksiy Lyovkin and Ivan Mikheev finally moved to Ukraine, where they remain to this day5.
With the beginning full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine the band took part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine. In particular, Oleksiy Lyovkin fought in the composition at the beginning of the invasion regiment «Azov»10, and as of 2024, is fighting in the Russian Volunteer Corps in stock GUR MOU11.
The group is considered by researchers to be a branch of the Azov Movement:
Wotanjugend was born in Russia, and publishes its online content almost exclusively in Russian. Today the self-described “hammer of National Socialism” is based in Ukraine and, for all intents and purposes, is part of the country’s far-right Azov movement that is trying to expand its domestic and international influence.
