Pavel Gubarev (Павел Губарев) is a former member of Russian National Unity and “People’s Governor” of Donetsk in the early stages of the Donbas War, as well as a former organiser of the Donetsk People’s Militia, alongside members of Neo-Fascist Alexander Dugin’s Eurasia Movement1. He was also a commander of the RNU affiliated separatist militia known as the Russian Orthodox Army:

In the Donbass region, the RNE organized the small but highly effective group Russkaia pravoslavnaia armiia (Russian Orthodox army), which was de facto under the control of RNE member Pavel Gubarev, by Gubarev’s own account.

Gubarev soon lost his prominence in the separatist military leadership, instead turning to politics by becoming a figure in the “Free Donbas” Party, the second largest party of the Donetsk People’s Republic’s parliament.

After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine he served as a soldier in the Russian Army, later becoming a member of the pro-war activist group known as the Club of Angry Patriots.
