The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (3-тя окрема штурмова бригада) is a unit of the Ukrainian Army formed by veterans of the Azov Brigade, its predecessor the Azov Battalion and the leadership of the National Corps party, the commander of the unit is National Corps leader Andriy Biletsky.
The brigade was initially formed as a (Pro-Ukraine) Volunteer Battalion shortly after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, it was initially known as Azov-Kyiv, then expanded into the Azov SSO (ССО «Азов») Regiment, it was then inducted into the army as a Brigade with some soldiers from the Azov-Dnipro unit later joining it:
At the end of 2022, part of the personnel together with Rodion Kudryashov was transferred to 3rd separate assault brigade, becoming the basis of the 1st mechanized battalion.73 Major Vladyslav Tokarev was appointed commander of the 98th Tro. After additional staffing and coordination, the battalion was withdrawn in December 2022 to perform combat missions in the Zaporizhzhia direction. 8
In late 2025, it became the central unit of the newly formed 3rd Army Corps, also commanded by Biletsky.
Due to its formation by National Corps members, the 3rd Brigade could be considered a part of the Azov Movement (see the movement’s page for details).
Oleksiy Reins, founder of the Rainshouse Initiative publishing house, serves in the Brigade, Mykola Kravchenko was a member when it was still the Azov SSO unit, but was killed in action in 2022.
