In the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict in 2014, various Serbian nationalist groups claiming the legacy of the Serbian Chetnik (Четници) movement joined the war as (Pro-Russia) Volunteer Battallions, a collection of groups calling themselves Chetniks or Ravna Gorans, these groups claimed a common Slavic brotherhood with Russians and shared Orthodox faith as their justification for participating in the conflict, the Serbian government denounced them for “war tourism”.

In June 2018, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine launched an investigation into 54 suspects in the pro-Russian foreign legion. Among the suspects were six Serbs who took part in attacks on Ukrainian troops in the east of the country in 2014 and later fought in Syria.[24] Suspected Serbs are considered involved in the far-right organization Unite Continentale.[14]
This group includes Bratislav Zhivkovich. As reported at the end of June 2018 by Radio Free Europe, members of this organization are systematically undergoing military training at bases in Rostov-on-Don, and the organization itself maintains constant contacts with the leaders of the Russian NGO “International Eurasian Movement”.
